Background

Born in Québec City, Canada in 1981, raised by Palestinian and American parents, Amalie has always been moved by colour, shape and the allure of architecture.   After studying Creative Arts in Montréal in 2000, she continued onto graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with Honours in 2004 from the University Of Ottawa.  It was Toronto in 2006, where she began to debute her work in solo and group exhibitions with Whippersnapper Gallery as well as undertaking much in demand for private commissions. In 2010, Amalie won the acclaimed ‘SELECTIONS’ 2010 Juried Art Prize at the Shenkman Arts Centre provided by the AOE, Ottawa Arts Council in Canada. 

Since moving to London in 2010, alongside solo exhibitions at the Hardy Tree Gallery in London, Amalie’s work was shown in March 2012 as part of ‘The Turtle Salon’, a group show tribute for Micheal H Shamberg, the late influential American-video producer and filmmaker. In 2013, The Islington Arts Factory selected a painting to show in a group exhibition.  Amalie’s ‘Midnight Blues’ series in 2013 was widely regarded and listed as one of the ‘Top Ten Must See Exhibitions’ in London by Tabish Khan of FAD magazine.  

Two pieces from her 2015 solo exhibition titled ‘Four Measures’, were selected to show in Venice, Italy at the International Art Expo ‘Liquid Room’ series group exhibition.  Her most recent solo exhibition in 2017 was shown at The Foundry Gallery in London, 'Measures in Motion' was listed as one of the 'Top 6 Exhibitions To See In London' by art critic Tabish Khan from The Londonist.
